The Biblical Trinity - ONE God!
by Robert Schmid, May 2004

In the beginning was Wisdom,
and Wisdom was with God,
and Wisdom was God.

“In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.”

In the beginning was the Spirit,
and the Spirit was with God,
and the Spirit was God.

What was in the beginning? God was in the beginning.

How many gods where in the beginning? Three? Two? or One?

It becomes self-evident that in the beginning was ONE God who manifested Himself in “three attributes”, not in “two or three gods”.

The Wisdom of God was not and is not a separate God or person apart from God.

The Word of God was not (but became) a separate God or person apart from God.

The Spirit of God was not and is not a separate God or person apart from God.

ONE God in three attributes: Wisdom, Word and Spirit.
The Biblical Trinity – ONE God.

“And the Word (of God) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.”

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.”

“He (Jesus - as the Word of God) was in the beginning with God (God and His Word); all things were made through Him (Jesus – as the Word of God), and without Him (Jesus - as the Word of God) was not anything made that was made.” And God said: “Let there be….” (God spoke through and by His Word that BECAME Jesus). “In Him (Jesus) was life (the Spirit of God), and the life was the light of men.”

Jesus, as the Word of God, came forth from/out of God when by a miracle the Word of God BECAME the Son of God. God reproduced Himself by causing His Word (seed, sperm) to BECOME His firstborn son, Jesus the Christ.

God truly and literally (not just a platitude) BECAME the Father of Jesus.

Jesus truly and literally (not just a platitude) BECAME the first born Son of God.

Man(kind) truly and literally (not just a platitude) can BECOME children of God and brethren of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Consider the butterfly! Did the butterfly always exist? No. The butterfly came into existence when it changed from a caterpillar to a butterfly. Did the butterfly exist before it was a butterfly? Yes, the butterfly existed, but not as a butterfly, it existed as a caterpillar.

Now consider Jesus! Did Jesus always exist? No, Jesus came into existence 2000 years ago when He was born of God and Mary. Did Jesus exist before He was born of God and Mary? Yes, Jesus existed, but not as Jesus, He existed as the Word of God. Did God create all things by Jesus? Yes, He did! But, when He did, Jesus was not yet Jesus Christ, He was not yet the Son of God. “In the beginning God created…” How? God spoke through and by His Word that BECAME Jesus “…and it was.” It’s a matter of belief, not of human interpretation and understanding.

At issue is if we really believe that God is reproducing Himself, not only through man, as Herbert W. Armstrong taught, but that He first of all reproduced Himself through His Word which became His firstborn Son, Jesus, our example and forerunner in ALL things. The question is whether God reproduced Himself through someone from without, a second God Being that was beside Him, or through something from within, Himself – His Word? Procreation is from within, not from without!

The reason why Jesus Christ is literally the Son of God is because He was literally born of God. The reason why man, literally “must be born again”, is to become literal children of God and thereby become what God is – God, sinless and divine.

That is the gospel! God gave (some part) of Himself, His Word, His Wisdom (Mind), His Spirit, and sent it from heaven, as His Son, to die for the sins of the world. Thank God that He was willing to share Himself with His creation.
