Jesus, "My Lord and my God!"
by

Here we are, 2000 years after the birth of Jesus, and yet
to this day Jesus is an enigma to most, even the learned people.
Anticipating this problem, Jesus Christ asked Peter and by
extension all of us this most important question: “But
who do YOU say that I am?” The significance
of this question is that it is directed at every individual
personally. Jesus wants to know what YOU say who He is. He
is not asking you what your minister says or, what a doctrinal
committee says who He is. Someday, we will all stand before
Jesus Christ and He will ask us the question: “But,
who do YOU say that I am?”
Well, from Peter’s reply we know what the correct answer
is, for his answer did not come from flesh and blood, but
from the Father who is in heaven. “You are the
Christ, the Son of the living God.”
There are three (false) teachings through which Satan contradicts
this basic, fundamental and plain truth that; “Jesus
is the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
1) By the teaching that Jesus pre-existed His own birth (when?)
2) By the teaching that Jesus is a created being (how?)
3) By the teaching that Jesus is everything and anything,
but not God (if?)
When did Jesus become
the Son of God?
Roman Catholisism/Triniterianism threatens that “If
anyone does not confess that God the Word was twice begotten,
the first before all time from the Father, non-temporal and
bodiless, the other in the last days when he came down from
the heavens and was incarnate by the holy, glorious, God-bearer,
ever-virgin Mary, and born of her, let him be anathema."
The Trinity doctrine is the basis of the idea that
Jesus pre-existed His own birth. To overcome this (false)
premise, another (false) premise is required – the incarnation,
where an existing god being appears in human form. Actually,
the idea of pre-existence is as old as time and is the basis
of all Babylonish Mystery Religions, which includes the (false)
doctrines of reincarnation and the immortality of the soul.
There are too many variations of the pre-existence of Jesus
to list, or to know, but they all lead to the same inevitable
conclusion: If Jesus pre-existed His own birth, then He did
not really become the Son of God 2000 years
ago, but was only born as a human being and
incarnated as the son of god.
However, the Biblical fact is that the Word (of God) not
only BECAME the “son of man”, Jesus, when He was
born of Mary, but the Word (of God) BECAME
the begotten “Son of God”, Jesus,
when Mary conceived 2000 years ago.
How did Jesus become
the Son of God?
In the beginning God created, through and
by His Word, the heavens and the earth, the angels and Adam
and Eve. Cain and Abel and every subsequent human being were
begotten of a sinful human father and born
of a sinful human mother. Jesus was begotten
of a sinless Father - God, born of a sinful
mother – Mary, and born again of His
sinless Father - God. That’s how Jesus came into existence
2000 years ago, when the Word of God BECAME flesh, BECAME
the Son of God. Not even God can create His
own son. A (true) son is not spoken into existence, but can
only come into existence through a process called procreation.
The gestation period for human beings, including Jesus, is/was
nine month. The gestation period for God beings, including
Jesus, is/was unto death. By faith, begotten human beings,
including Jesus, believe that God the Father will resurrect
his spiritually unborn children, including Jesus, when they
will be/when He was, born again.
“If you are
the Son of God?”
The biggest, little word “if” is Satan’s
favorite and was thrown at Jesus as soon as He was baptized
when Satan challenged Jesus with “If
you are the Son of God.”
Today, Satan still throws the same “If, Jesus is the
Son of God” at every baptized child of God. The antidote
to this attack is the same today as it was then - The Word
of God - which says that: “This is my beloved Son, with
whom I am well pleased”, identifying Satan as the liar
that he was from the beginning.
When the Jews heard that Jesus called God His own Father,
they tried to kill Him for they understood the import of that
claim that Jesus was making Himself equal with God. This premise
is being challenged today, just as it was 2000 years ago.
Why is Jesus God? Jesus is God because He was born of God!
Be not deceived about the simplicity that is in Christ. That
which is born of animal, is animal. That which is born of
human, is human. And that which is born of God,
is God.
Jesus is God because He is the Son
of God!
Jesus is God because as the Word
of God, He was with God in the beginning,
and the Word of God was (and is) God!
Jesus, as the Son of man and as the Son
of God, had a beginning 2000 years ago.
Jesus, as the Word of God, is without father
or mother or genealogy, and has neither beginning of days
nor end of life, but resembling the Son of
God He continues a priest for ever.
When Jesus appeared to Thomas and challenged him to put out
his hand and place it in His side and not be faithless, but
believing, Thomas answered Him, “My Lord and
my God!” Jesus did not correct him, but said
to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me?
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”
Let us all answer without having seen and without doubt, “Jesus,
my Lord and my God!”
