HOW and WHEN did Jesus became the Son of God?
by Robert Schmid

Considering that Lucifer and the angels can never become true begotten/born Sons of God makes the question: HOW and WHEN did Jesus become the begotten/born Son of God? one of the most important question we can ask.

Jesus came to show us the way by His example, through His birth, life, suffering, death and resurrection (born again).

Satan does not want human beings to know and understand how and when Jesus became the true begotten/born Son of God, nor how humans can become true begotten/born children of God and has confused the plain truth with, philosophy and mythological teachings.

Let us consider and contrast four different teachings of HOW and WHEN Jesus became the Son of God.

According to Roman Catholicism:

The first anathema of the Second Council of Constantinople states: “If anyone does not confess that the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are one nature or essence, one power or authority, worshipped as a trinity of the same essence, one deity in three hypostases or persons, let him be anathema”

The second anathema states: “If anyone does not confess that God the Word was twice begotten, the first before all time from the Father, non-temporal and bodiless, the other in the last days when he came down from the heavens and was incarnate by the holy, glorious, God bearer, ever virgin Mary, and born of her, let him be anathema.”

In other words, according to Catholic Theology, God is a trinity, and Jesus always existed as the Son of God and came to earth via an incarnation as a human being and by being born of Mary 2000 years ago.

Here we can see how the trinity doctrine works hand in hand with the incarnation doctrine where an existing divine being, Jesus the Son of God, the second person of the trinity, is assuming human form via an incarnation and by being born of Mary, which is syncretism that God hates.

Since neither the trinity nor the incarnation, nor pre-existence are Biblical concepts, and since by these doctrines God’s deity CAN NOT be clearly perceived by the things that have been made, these doctrines can only be believed (because a doctrinal committee said so), but can not be understood! They are Roman Catholic mystery doctrines.

According to Herbert W. Armstrong:

In his book Mystery of the Ages, HWA wrote: “Long before anything else existed, there did exist two Supreme Beings, immortal, who ALWAYS had existed”. “So here we find revealed originally two Personages. One is God. And with God in that prehistoric time was another Personage who also was God – one who later was begotten and born as Jesus Christ.” That is plain and simply POLYTHEISM.

Although HWA denied the trinity, he retained from Catholicism the pre-existence of Jesus, i.e., that Jesus existed before He was born, and the incarnation doctrine, i.e., that an existing God being became a human being.

But, God was not a twinity of two co-equal beings where one became begotten and born of the other. God created one man Adam who begat Cain - a new person (a new human being), and God begat Jesus - a new person (a new God being).

Since neither existence before birth nor the incarnation are Biblical concepts, and since by these doctrines God’s deity CAN NOT be clearly perceived by the things that have been made, these doctrines can only be believed (because HWA said so), but can not be understood! They are Roman Catholic mystery doctrines.

According to Unitarians:

Unitarians deny the trinity, twinity and incarnation doctrines. They believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, the Messiah, the Lord and Savior, but not God.  They believe that God created the seed of which Jesus was born, making Jesus a created being. They believe and teach that: “The crowning piece of the plan of God was the creation of Jesus Christ….

Do not be deceived! Just because someone claims that Jesus is the “Son of God”, does not make Him the “Son of God.” If God created the seed from which Jesus was born, then Jesus is a created being and not a true son, because nature, i.e., the things God created, teaches us that a father DOES NOT create his seed, the seed has always been with(in) the father. The Word of God, which is the seed, was not created, but has always been with(in) God, so that who is born of God, is God. What else?

According to the Word of God, the Holy Bible:

Rom 1:19-20 tells us that we would know the deity of God in the things that have been made, so that we are without excuse.

God made Adam and Eve in His image and therefore created with(in) them the potential to reproduce through procreation, i.e., to have (physical) children. God then showed the way through and by His first born Son how to reproduce through procreation, i.e., to have (spiritual) children.

In the beginning God (Gen 1:1).
In the beginning the Word (of God), which was always with(in) God and was God (John 1:1).
In the fullness of time the Word (of God) BECAME flesh, BECAME the Son (of God), BECAME Jesus the Christ (John 1:14).

Jesus was the (only so) begotten Son of God (at conception) and was born as a human being through Mary (the legal wife of God). He lived, suffered and died and was resurrected as the (first) born Son of God (Rom 1:4). Jesus did not pre-exist His birth as a second God being. “But when the fulness of the time was come” (Gal 4:4),God BECAME God the Father and the Word of God BECAME the Son of God (John 1:14).

God was not and is not a trinity! God was not a twinity! God did not create His Son! God is the ONE God Family that began with the ONE God who first married, then in the fullness of time had His firstborn Son - Jesus, and who is now in the process of adding, as many as are led by the Spirit of God, to be(come) additional Children of God.

Jesus became the SON of GOD when He was begotten and born of God, through procreation (not incarnation), 2000 years ago. God did not become a man! God fathered a son who was born as a man. That is the plain and simple truth according to the WORD of GOD.
