You MUST be born again!
by
Robert Schmid
When Jesus Christ told Nicodemus, and by extension all of
us, that we MUST be born again to see the kingdom of God,
Jesus did not make an optional recommendation, rather than
He gave a command which has life and death consequences. It
is appointed unto man once to die (physically) and after that
the judgment - eternal life or eternal death.
Is the idea of being "born again" or "born
of God" a literal event, or just a metaphor for conversion
and or conversation?
If you are a Trinitarian, i.e., a born again
Christian, you must view the idea of being born again as a
metaphor because if God would literally have other sons, God
would no longer be a Trinity. In other words, the Trinity
doctrine will forever keep us apart from God and keep us from
becoming one with God. The Trinity doctrine is inherently
divisive.
If you are a Unitarian, i.e., a believer
in ONE God (Being), from and into all eternity, you too must
view the concept of being born again as a metaphor because
if God would literally have a son, God would no longer be
ONE God (Being) but TWO God Beings. In other words, the Unitarian
doctrine will forever keep us apart from God and keep us from
becoming one with God. The Unitarian doctrine is inherently
divisive.
What then is the Biblical truth about understanding
God? It's actually very simple, maybe to simple for most people.
The real challenge of scripture is to believe the Word of
God instead of interpreting the Word of God. When it says
"In the beginning God" do you believe that it says
“God” (singular) and not Gods, not family of God,
not two co-equal God beings, not Father and Son, not God and
His Spokesman, or whatever your (plural) interpretation is?
Although there are prophetic scriptures in the Old Testament
that speak of the coming Son of God, it is not until the New
Testament, 2000 years ago, that God had a Son whom He named
Jesus. Clearly, the ONE God of the Old Testament had a Son
in the New Testament so that there are now TWO God Beings.
The purpose of human life is to be "born again",
to be born of God via a spiritual begettal by God, via death
and a resurrection, making us additional Sons of God, making
us additional God Beings. Jesus Christ being our example and
forerunner.
This leaves us with John 1:1 which tells us that in the beginning
was the Word (of God). Not Jesus, not a second God Being,
not the Son of God, not a Spokesman or whatever else your
interpretation of the word “Word” is. No, in the
beginning was the Word of God and the Word of God was always
with God and the Word of God was God. ONE God Being, just
like you and your word are ONE human being.
Then there is John 1:14 which tells us that The Word (of
God) became flesh, became the firstborn Son of God, became
Jesus the Christ. Believe it, or interpret it! If you believe
it, you simply believe a miracle that the "Word of God"
became the "Son of God". If you interpret
it you will fall into the Satanic trap of the incarnation
doctrine where an existing god being appears in human form,
a mythological, not a Biblical concept.
What is the conclusion of the matter?
In the beginning was God who created all there is through
and by His Word. God spoke and it was. Then 2000 years ago
God reproduced Himself when His Word became His Son. Then,
since the day of Pentecost, God is adding to His Family by
admonishing human beings that they must be born again in order
to become a part of the Family of God and become truly one
with God and our elder brother Jesus Christ.
In John 17, Jesus is praying for us to His Father that, "Just
as you, Father, live in me and I live in you , I am asking
that they may live in us." This kind of oneness, is possible
only by literally being born of God, by literally becoming
a child of God. Therefore, Jesus Christ's commandment is that
"You MUST be born again." Anything
less than that, and you will not be able to see and enter
the Kingdom and Family of God.
